The CALM GIFT Of Happiness

When I first began to teach the mindfulness courses in 2014, I dedicated the last session to Happiness.

When I designed the course, I wrote down all the things that I was sure we needed to be happy which were:

  • Compassion and Self-Compassion
  • Acceptance
  • Love
  • Mindfulness
  • Gratitude
  • Inner Peace
  • Forgiveness
  • The Truth (your own consistent personal truth)

The first letter of each of these spells CALM GIFT.

The way that I define happiness isn't by what happiness is (ask a thousand people and you'll get a thousand answers) but by what happiness isn't.

Happiness isn't a thing. Happiness is the absence of a thing. An absence of the sort of mental suffering that can follow us through our lives. The sort of mental suffering that we experience as worry or anxiety.

The last 18 months have been extremely challenging for many of us and so I though that these would teach these as a foundation to help us all recover.

I shall run a singlelive stream class on the topic for the public each week 10 am on Saturdays on my Bromley Mindfulness Instagram Live profile and Podbean.
