A Possible Sleep, Rest and Energy Course This Summer

It's well known that meditation benefits sleep. Anything from having practices that refocus our busy minds away from persistent repetitive mind loops to relaxing a tense and stressed body. That helps to bring us into a state of rest or sleep. Meditation offers a powerful toolbox of practices to help us navigate our busy lives and cope with the pressures of the modern world.

Over the last few years, especially in the summer, when many of us find it most difficult to sleep, I have led meditation for sleep, rest, and energy training.

I normally run this four-week course on Monday evenings.

I'm currently taking names and expressions of interest. If you think this might be useful for you, please get in touch with me either through direct message or by sending an email via the Bromley Mindfulness or meditation course websites. I will then add your name and email address to the information list. When I have sufficient interest, I will contact those who have expressed interest to determine which dates work for the majority and then run a course on that date.

If you're interested, please contact me to join us for the 2025 summer meditation course for sleep, rest, and energy.

Focus, Calmness and Relaxation

Human beings have one single awareness that we can focus on. When we multitask on multiple elements of our experience, our awareness moves very quickly from one element to another.

This is known as context switching and can be an extremely taxing activity.

Calmness is when our mind is peaceful and thoughts are not intense or continuous. Relaxation is the process of releasing muscular skeletal tension from the body. If we experience this daily, it normally comes about because of stressful experiences.

One thing I learned early on as a meditation teacher was that these three experiences are very closely linked for some people. For example, I have some who can only calm their mind by relaxing their body.

The heart of my teaching practice is teaching how to enhance these three experiences: focus, calmness and relaxation.

I will run some classes over the next few days, exploring the links between these three experiences and the links between worry, anxiety, and stress, which is the flip side of this desirable state of calmness, focus, and relaxation.

I hope you found this insight useful. This is a summary of the social media microlearning posts I have published this week that you can view on your favourite social media by following me on these channels:
